PI ROPE - The textile spoke
Spokes are only loaded on tension. So why not use materials that are particularly suitable for tensile loads? The idea of PI ROPES was born as early as 2013 - then still without a concrete name. Under the umbrella of the professorship, several development steps could be completed. Based on its own interest in bicycles as a hobby, PI ROPE GmbH has been researching and developing an impeller system based on the functionality of textile fibres since 2017 as an independent company in close cooperation with the Chair of Conveying and Material Flow Technology.
Daniela Storch, Stephanie Röthlingshöfer and Dirk Fischer work together under the direction of Ingo Berbig on the products of the GmbH. The aim is to achieve the optimum matching of an impeller. A constant further development of the product and the process is essential.
The team was financed from 2016 to 2017 by an Exist start-up grant and from 2017 to 2018 by an SAB technology start-up grant.
