LiGenium - Modern conveyor technology in timber construction
The engineers Dr.-Ing. Sven Eichhorn, Dr.-Ing. Ronny Eckardt and Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Alt have been researching the use of wood in conveyor systems for several years. The advantages of modern wood-based materials, such as lighter construction with comparable mechanical performance, low thermal expansion and heat conduction and increased vibration damping and noise reduction, are becoming increasingly apparent to users. The LiGenium team, supported by Dipl.-Kffr. (FH) Angela Grimmer, is working on the development, production and sale of machine elements, machines and complete plants in timber construction. The first pilot projects have already been successfully established with OEMs in the automotive industry. The foundation of LiGenium GmbH is planned for 2018. On the way to founding the company, the engineers at Chemnitz Technical University are supported by the SAXEED start-up network, which accompanies students and graduates from the university into self-employment. The project is supported with funds from the Exist research transfer program.
