In addition to properties such as tensile strength and elongation, the abrasion resistance of a fabric tape or rope is an important quality feature. Damage to the tape or rope by sharp edges is one of the main failure mechanisms of such structures. With a comparative tensile test between tapes or ropes subjected to abrasive and unstressed stress according to ASTM D 6770-07, it is possible to make statements about the resistance of the tapes. Various narrow textiles and counter bodies can be used.
