  • Ausgabesysteme I (Output Systems I) / Ausgabesysteme I – Eine Einführung (Output Systems I – An Introduction
    This course provides an overview of the common types of output systems. While digital printing methods constitute a major topic, special emphasis will be devoted to process-related aspects. Press construction is explained exemplarily based on specific machine components. Next to these topics, the course also deals with further output systems such as display technologies. Workflow and economic aspects complement the course. In the second part of the course which will be given in the summer semester (Ausgabesysteme II - Output Systems II) the subject will be addressed in more detail.


  • Ausgabesysteme II (Output Systems II)
    The course includes detailed information on the most important digital printing methods, xerography and inkjet printing. The key focus is on process-related aspects and physical and chemical fundamentals of the processes. The engineering background is explained using the example of specific machine components. Furthermore, the course deals in-depth with the topic workflow.

Accompanying the lecture Ausgabesysteme II - Output Systems II, the understanding of inkjet and toner printing technology will be advanced in experiments during hands-on training.


  • Druckvorstufe I (Prepress I)
    The lecture (held in German) considers prepress on an advanced level by addressing specific applications. The individual functions and devices are presented and the corresponding processes in the production are elucidated. Enabling technologies are discussed exemplarily.

The scope of the exercise course is the independent design and implementation of a print document. Basic information and the proficiency in software programs is conveyed during the exercises. Thus, the key elements of prepress are presented in great detail.


  • Prepress II
    This English spoken lecture provides an insight into issues and methods of screening technologies. Screening is used as an example to demonstrate which system-specific problems might arise when dealing with the output of image information. Furthermore, students will learn how to solve these problems using physical, mathematical and software-based methods.


  • Typografie und Gestaltung (Typography and Design)
    The lecture offers an insight into the multifaceted field of typography and design. Besides imparting knowledge regarding historical and contemporary development processes, an innovative approach to fonts in connection to shape, colour, expression and content will be trained. Beyond that, the lecture presents causalities and creative processes of different styles and epochs. The lecture combines exemplary images of all aspects and tasks for practical exercises. The process of developing a design concept is explained in practical terms with the layout software Adobe Indesign CS4®.


  • Visuelle Wiedergabequalität (Visual Reproduction Quality)
    The lecture (held in German) deals with the conditions under which the human eye processes visual information and the requirements which have to be fulfilled for a high reception quality. These requirements are subsequently related to products of print and media technology. Criteria of reproduction quality are established and students are introduced to their practical application including metrological standards.



  • Digital Fabrication
    The course offers detailed information regarding new fields of applications mainly fabricated through digital (printing) methods. An overview will be given of the basic device physics as well as a deeper look into solar cells, batteries and HF communication. In addition to the materials needed for the production of novel functionalities, the course will describe the process steps and the work flow providing the functional characteristics. Besides conventional printing, laser methods, bio printing, and 3D printing will also be addressed as digital production processes.


  • Medientechnisches Kolloquium (Media Technology Research Colloquium)
    The colloquium is composed of a series of reports covering current research topics of pmTUC researchers and guest speakers


  • Printed Functionalities
    Die Lehrveranstaltung ist als grundlagenorientierte Einführung in die Technologien des Bedruckens und Beschichtens von flexiblen Polymerfolien und ausgewählten faserbasierten Substraten konzipiert. Ausgehend vom Workflow und von den Basistechnologien für die Herstellung traditioneller Druckprodukte (auf denen Text und Bilder dargestellt sind) werden die speziellen Weiterentwicklungen für zukünftige Anwendungen des Druckens über die Farbigkeit hinaus (Printing Beyond Color) formuliert und entwickelt. Anhand von drucktechnischen Anwendungsbeispielen aus den Bereichen Elektronische Schaltungen, RF Kommunikation, flexible Energiequellen, Mikrosystemtechnik, Smart Objects, Leichtbauintegration und Verpackungstechnik wird die Druck- und Beschichtungstechnik als eine der Schlüsseltechnologien für die Entwicklung der “Printed, Flexible, Organic and Large Area Electronics” Industrie in die ingenieurtechnische Toolbox der Studierenden integriert.
