HiWi positions

We offer to students the opportunity to supervise current courses as student assistants (HiWis). This enables them to apply and deepen the knowledge acquired during their studies in teaching practice at an early stage. In particular, the exercises for the following courses have to be corrected:

  • Algebra, Stochastic and Geometry for the teaching profession
  • Analysis
  • Applied Statistics (R and SPSS)
  • Higher Mathematics for Mechanical Engineering
  • Higher Mathematics for Computer Science, Electrotechnics and Physics
  • Higher Mathematics for Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, Sensors and cognitive Psychology, Computer Science and Communications
  • Linear Algebra/Analytic Geometry
  • Mathematics for Economy
  • Statistics for Economy

What is expected from a HiWi?

In addition to good manners, commitment and punctuality, we expect above all the specialist knowledge in the respective course, which should have been acquired during the studies. For more information, see the Education and Science Union Guide.

How to apply for a HiWi position?

We prefer to allocate vacant HiWi positions to students of the Faculty of Mathematics; in addition, students from other faculties are also exceptionally required. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Frank Göring or Dipl.-Math. Toni Kowalewitz at hiwi@math.tu-chemnitz.de. You can also contact lecturers or tutors after a course.
