Barrier Optimizer

The barrier optimizer offers an approach particularly efficient on large, sparse problems (for example, more than 1000 rows or columns, and no more than perhaps a dozen nonzeros per column). The barrier optimizer is sufficiently different in nature from the other optimizers that it is discussed in detail at the end of this chapter, in Solving LP Problems with the Barrier Optimizer.
