Master degree program in Intelligent Media & Virtual Reality

Within the concept of the Faculty of Computer Science the Master degree program Intelligent Media and Virtual Reality forms the logical continuation of the Bachelor degree program Applied Informatics with the focal points Media Informatics as well as Computer Graphics and Visualisation. The aim of this degree program is the comprehensive education in technical aspects of media, reaching from classical textual media through to sound, vision, video and virtual worlds. The degree program is research-based due to the integration into the faculty’s main research area Intelligent Multimedia-based Systems.

Job Options

The degree program qualifies the degree holders for activities that require a more advanced specialisation than a Bachelor degree program of Computer Science can offer. Such activities can be in media but can also extend to other areas such as robotics. Examples for fields of activities which specialists are educated for are:

  • Archiving of digital and digitised artefacts, photo and video material
  • Search engines for visual contents
  • Simulation of complex architectures or production processes by combining real graphical material and artificially generated worlds
  • Development of object recognizing robots which self-dependently operate in complex virtual and, in a further step, in real worlds - these robots have the capability to automatically create a model of their world from identified objects
  • Development of games programmes and of complex procedures to optically process the filmed reality
