Concluding electricity contracts

In addition to the search for accommodation, the conclusion of an electricity contract for each accommodation of visiting scholars is indispensable. Therefore, the IUZ provides an overview for searching for electricity providers. Corresponding comparison portals such as verivox and check24 offer a possibility to compare different power providers.

Please note the following. First, all private apartments in Chemnitz and throughout Germany have a legal right to an automatic basic supply. In Chemnitz it is assured by the provider Eins Energie in Saxony. If this is not desired, it must be cancelled immediately. In addition, it should be checked whether an electricity contract is not already included in furnished apartments. The websites of comparison portals and electricity providers calculate individually (according to number of people, consumption, postcode and city, including electricity price brake yes or no) and show available offers.

If you have further questions, please contact your host professorship or the Visiting Scholar Program.
