Today's decision makers face the challenge of analyzing higher volume of data in shorter periods of time. Demand for
assisting information systems is constantly growing. However, evolving requirements, limited budgets and increasing
time-pressure make development of dedicated software solutions challenging.
This thesis proposes a systematic approach for time- and cost-efficient development of decision support systems
directly by decision makers. The method called WebComposition for End User Development consists of a process model
and assistance mechanisms for development and evolution of corresponding solutions. Efficiency, applicability and
usability of the proposed concepts are evaluated in user studies. The thesis concludes with discussion of findings and
derives ideas for future research in the area.
