IRD F: Modelling, Integrative Simulation and Optimisation

Exzellenzcluster im Rahmen der dritten Runde der Exzellenzinitiative des Bundes und der Länder zur Stärkung der universitären Spitzenforschung.

Der Forschungsbereich F des Exzellenzclusters MERGE beschäftigt sich mit der Simulation und Optimierung von kurzfaserverstärkten Kunststoffbauteilen. Hierzu werden sowohl Fertigungssimulationen des Spritzgussprozesses als auch Belastungssimulationen der Bauteile mit Methoden der numerischen Strömungsmechanik und der finiten Elemente durchgeführt. An der Professur Praktische Informatik werden Methoden zur Integration unterschiedlichster Simulations- und Anwendungsprogramme in den komplexen Optimierungsablauf für Leichtbaustrukturen entwickelt. Ein Schwerpunkt bildet dabei die Entwicklung einer Kommunikationsbibliothek zur programmtechnischen Kopplung von eigenständigen Softwarekomponenten, die auf verschiedenen Rechnerplattformen flexibel verteilt ausgeführt werden. Weiterhin wird die effiziente Verteilung von rechenintensiven Simulationsaufgaben auf in Umfang und Rechenleistung variierenden Rechenressourcen untersucht.
