Additional Qualifications

Here you will find information on various additional qualifications for sports scientists.

 

Deutscher Verband für Gesundheitssport und Sporttherapie e.V. (German Association for Health Sports and Exercise Therapy)

Information on obtaining additional qualifications in Sports/Exercise Therapy of the DVGS e. V. in the bachelor degree programme in Prevention, Rehabilitation and Fitness Sports and the master degree programme in Sports Science with the focus on Prevention and Rehabilitation.

The exam is offered each year in October and the examination date depends on the availability of the DVGS e. V. auditor. The exam will take place, when a minimum of 8 students have registered. Further examination dates can be arranged in exceptional cases, again when at least 8 students have registered. Individual examinations are possible at other locations upon request at DVGS e.V..

Prerequisites for obtaining additional qualifications in Sports/Exercise Therapy in DVGS e.V.

Certificates for specialization Internal Diseases + Orthopaedics / Rheumatology / Traumatology + Quality Representative in health care and social services

  • Successful completion of the bachelor degree Prevention, Rehabilitation and Fitness Sports
  • DVGS e. V. certification exam
  • Validation of a 6-month internship

Certificates specialization Neurology + Medical Training Therapy (MTT)

  • Successful completion of the master degree in Prevention and Rehabilitation
  • For the MTT certificate a validation of a 12-month full-time job in a rehabilitation centre for orthopaedic disorders is necessary.

Prerequisites for sitting the certification exam

Vocational qualifications (e.g. sports scientists [BSc, MSc])

  • Degree programme Prevention, Rehabilitation and Fitness Sports at the TU Chemnitz

For participants no longer studying at the TU Chemnitz

  • Membership in the DVGS e. V. (€ 65 part-payer; € 120 full-payer, plus € 32.50 for the magazine B & G [Exercise Therapy and Health Sports])
  • Membership application

Complete certificate for Internal Diseases

6 separate licences

Examiner of the DVGS e. V. + one additional assessor (lecturer of the Professorship for Sports Medicine and Biology)

Oral examination

Duration of exam = 45 minutes

Mainly questions regarding the previously selected focus of the exam (exam contents of the courses Exercise Therapy in Orthopaedics and Internal Diseases [VM2])

DVGS e. V. sends a participation confirmation

Submission of the following proof to the DVGS e. V. for issuing of the individual licenses

  • Copy of the vocational qualification certificate
  • Internship certificate is not necessary if certificate validation (next possible test) was completed directly after graduation
  • Institute certificate (issued by TU Chemnitz after BSc or MSc degree)
  • Membership in the DVGS e. V. (€ 65 part-payer; € 120 full-payer, plus € 32.50 for the magazine B & G [Exercise Therapy and Health Sports])
  • Recent passport photos (one image per individual licenses)

Submission of the following proof to DVGS e.V. for issuing the overall certificate of the selected focus of the exam

  • see item 2 plus internship certificate (6 months = 24 weeks)
  • Complete certificates are issued only if the following is being presented:
    • Bachelor institute proof (proof of 14 weeks of practical work in study ,including pactical work) plus the internship confirmations of the internship institutions (1 x rehabilitation internship [5 weeks] + 1 x prevention internship [4 weeks])
    • Proof of another 10 weeks of practical work with the internship confirmation in addition to the practical work of the bachelor institute proof
    Altogether, a confirmation of a total internship of 19 weeks of practical work must be presented.
    The final decision for accepting the internships is taken by the DVGS e.V..

Obtaining individual licenses and the overall certificate from other conditions that were not part of the exam

  • Payment of the fee for the overall certificate (€ 125)
  • Payment of the fee of the individual licenses (€ 80 per license)

Application for all certificates Neurology / MTT / Quality Management Controller in health care and social services (DVGS e.V.) is possible after successful completion of the MSc Prevention, Rehabilitation and Fitness Sport and after the successful completion of the certification exam Internal / Orthopaedic Diseases as well as the submission of the institutes confirmation to the DVGS e.V..

  • For issuing the overall certificate MTT of DVGS e. V. one year of practical full time work in a rehabilitation institution with a medical training therapy is required

Licenses are valid for 3 years. Refresher courses or completely new qualifications (e.g. neurology, MTT) extend all licenses.

According to the DVGS e.V. license regulations individual licenses can be renewed not earlier than 1 year before and not later than 3 years after the end of their validity. However, the extension does not apply from the date of further education, but always after the date of the last validity.

Attention

Regardless of the date of issue of individual licenses begin their validity with the date of examination. This means that if, for example, the single license "Rückenschule" (back pain) is only retrieved two years after the examination, it is still valid for one year.

Approval of the practical work within the prevention, rehabilitation and fitness sport courses

The internship and practical activities of the BA / BSc degree programme are marked by a total of 14 weeks on the institute certificate.

The internship and practical activities of the MSc degree programme are recorded by a total of 10 weeks on the institute certificate.

For issuing the complete certificates it is necessary to verify to the DVGS e. V. 10 additional weeks of practical work in a rehabilitation institution after successful completion of the bachelor degree and the internships that are part of the institute confirmation.

Landessportbund Sachsen

Students of the Bachelor program prevention, rehabilitation and fitness Sports can apply different practice leaders / trainers – licences, after the graduation of certain modules. (see request form) The application occurs about the request form. As a proof of the successful graduation of the demanded modules a grade certificate from the Examination Office is necessary. After presentation this Kristin Röhr or Tino Wächtler signs the form.

Mit Abschluss des Bachelorstudiengangs können die Studierenden die Übungsleiter B Lizenz mit dem Profil 'Gesundheitsförderung' beantragen. Die Kopie der Bachelorurkunde genügt dann als Nachweis. In einem Anschreiben sollten die Studierenden Name, Adresse und Geburtsdatum mitteilen, da diese Daten zur Lizenzausstellung unerlässlich sind. Da es kein offizielles Formular zur Beantragung der B-Lizenz gibt, muss die Vereinsmitgliedschaft - wenn nicht schon auf dem Formblatt für die C-Lizenz geschehen - formlos nachgewiesen werden.

Die Anträge für die Lizenzen sind mit einem frankierten Rückumschlag und 5 Euro Ausstellungsgebühr sowie einem Passbild (wenn gewünscht, ist nicht zwingend notwendig) an folgende Adresse zu senden:

Wright Foundation

Wright Foundation Instructor (WFI) - GP Exercise Referral course

The GP Exercise Referral Qualification enables the participants to work as an exercise therapist in the UK, Northern Ireland, and other English-speaking countries. They acquire fundamental knowledge in the following fields:

  • Definitions and concepts in the areas of physical exercise, health and fitness
  • Interrelationship between exercise, medical conditions and medications
  • Relevance of motivation and behaviour modification
  • Strategies to initiate and maintain healthy living in patients with common indications (e.g.: CHF, COPD, diabetes mellitus, musculoskeletal disorders)
  • Requirements and limitations of physical exercise in specific patient groups (e.g.: obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus)
  • Contraindications and overuse problems in physical exercise, emergency management
  • Interactions between mediation and physical exercise
  • Knowledge about the National Health System (NHS_NQAF) guidelines and the National Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)

Duration of course: 5 Days

The course is held in English and led by a sports scientist. After the successful completion of the qualification, the participant receives a certificate through the WRIGHT Foundation.

Requirements are at least 10 registered participants per course. Depending on the number of interested students, the course takes place once or twice a year and will be announced via the mailing list.

Sächsischer Turn-Verband e.V

Studierende des Bachelorstudiengangs Präventions-, Rehabilitations- und Fitnesssport können nach Absolvierung bestimmter Module die verschiedenen Übungsleiter/Trainer – Lizenzen beantragen. (siehe Antragsformular)

Die Beantragung erfolgt über das Antragsformular. Als Nachweis für die erfolgreiche Absolvierung der geforderten Module ist eine Notenbescheinigung aus dem Prüfungsamt erforderlich. Nach Vorlage dieser unterschreiben Kristin Röhr oder Tino Wächtler das Formblatt.

Das Formblatt bitte zusammen mit dem Antragsformular, einem 1. Hilfe-Nachweis und einem Lichtbild an folgende Adresse schicken:
