KOMPASS

KOMPASS is the acronym of the complex general school examination. This project is carried out as a collaboration between the TU Chemnitz (professorship Sports Medicine / Sports Biology) with the health department of the city of Chemnitz. The urban health promotion aimed at encouraging initiative, enlightenment and indicating a healthy lifestyle as well as a equity in health for all people. To implement a targeted health promotion, which integrates problem-based movement-applications for school-age children, a study of the health status of the concerned students, their family and social context and the motor and physical constitution is essential.

To this end, the TU Chemnitz and the health department of the city of Chemnitz are raising on the basis of playschool and school examinations, parents' interviews and motor testing extensive data of Chemnitzer first and fourth graders. These allow an assessment of the socio-medical development of the children and provide the basis for designing movement- and sports-therapy interventions in primary schools of Chemnitz.
