The 2nd Chemnitz Symposium on Electrical Engineering and Information Technology took place on 4 and 5 March 2026. Two representatives of the ET/IT Student Council participated and represented the perspectives of the faculty’s students.

The first day focused on research. Professorships, the Centre for Microtechnologies (ZfM) and MAIN presented their research priorities. Planned and proposed large-scale research projects were introduced and new project ideas were discussed. Possible collaborations between professorships were also explored. Another focus was the development of a roadmap for key research topics and the strategic positioning of potential flagship projects intended to strengthen the faculty’s profile and increase its visibility among universities in the coming years.

The Dean of Studies also presented the current teaching portfolio. In the subsequent discussion, existing teaching formats were critically reviewed and possible developments were explored. Particular attention was given to how degree programmes, course content and teaching formats could be further developed in light of current technological developments and changing ways of learning and working in order to remain aligned with ongoing scientific and technological progress.

The second day focused on the faculty’s public outreach. Topics included activities related to external communication and measures to attract new students. In this context, the results of the task force on student recruitment were presented.

The Student Council contributed feedback and ideas from the student body and represented student perspectives in the discussions with the professors. The symposium concluded with a meeting of the Faculty Council.
