Sri Venkata Naga Phanindra Akula is a full-time research fellow at the Professorship Communications Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology.

His research areas of interest are Wireless Communications, Autonomous Driving, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Optimization. His current research work focuses particularly on the area of Radio Resource Management in wireless communication technologies (e.g. DSRC, 5G) for connected and automated driving.

Since November 2016, Phanindra has worked in multiple European Union research projects in the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Connected and Automated Driving. As part of the ADASANDME project he has not only contributed to the design of a novel system architecture for next-generation ADAS systems but also designed an Environmental Situation Assessment module to assess the situation for change of automation level (manual driving to automated driving or vice versa) in an autonomous vehicle using decision networks.
