Mr. L. G. Paterno holds a Bachelor degree in Chemistry from the University of Sao Paulo (USP, 1997) and PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar, 2003), both in Brazil. He also spent two years (2000-2002) as a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, as part of his PhD work.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Brasilia (UnB) in Brazil (since 2011). His research focuses on the synthesis and deposition of ultrathin films of nanomaterials for development of chemicals sensors and energy conversion devices as well as the development of nanoplatforms for cancer photherapy.
