BernardBoukamp's photo Prof. Bernard A. Boukamp finished his bachelor's and master's studies at the State University of Utrecht. He also did his PhD in Utrecht on the subject “Photo conductivity in pure and Li-doped gallium-antimonide” After obtaining his PhD degree (1974) he joined the research group of Prof. Bob Huggins (Dept. of Materials Science & Engineering, Stanford University), working on "High Temperature Solid State Batteries".
He has Postdoc position at the State University of Groningen, the Netherlands, working on the "Electrochemistry of Chalcogenides" and at the University of Twente in the Inorganic Materials Science (IMS) group of prof. Ton Burggraaf, with a study on “Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and Oxygen Isotope Exchange in Solid State Electrochemistry” in 1980 and 1984, respectively. In 1993, he had the position as assistant professor in the IMS group with subject “Solid State Electrochemistry”. There he developed the impedance analysis software ‘Equivalent Circuit’, which has been in use worldwide. He became an associate professor in the IMS group with special attention on “Impedance Spectroscopy and Solid State Electrochemistry” in 2006. Since 2009, he has been official (mandatory) retirement, but until present he remains active as associate professor (emeritus) in the IMS group.
He has organized and given a large number of tutorial lectures on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, notably at the Solid State Ionics Conferences since 2009. He has cooperated with several research groups in the Netherlands and abroad leading to a number of co-authored publications.
