Workshop “Communication Styles”
Are you firmly convinced that “yes” should always mean “yes”? In some cultures, it is generally considered impolite to make straightforward remarks, while in others, you risk to exasperate your conversation partner by beating around the bush. In this workshop we shall discuss, among other things, some basic issues worth keeping in mind when communicating in intercultural contexts.
Tuesday, October 9th 2018, 17:15 - 19:00. Language: English, Room: 2/NK004 . Trainer: Anne-Coralie Bonnaire.
Workshop “Distance & Closeness”
Where do the invisible borders of our personal space run? Are they just the same for everybody? In this workshop, we shall discuss the impact of cultural differences on the feeling of personal borders and the use of space in different communication contexts.
Wednesday, October 10th 2018, 17:15 - 19:00. Language: English, Room: 2/W040. Trainer: Anne-Coralie Bonnaire.
Workshop “In Time, On Time, About Time”
Good time management during one's studies is one of the central prerequisites of overall study success. How binding is the agreed project schedule? Is formal small talk a mere loss of time or a socially valuable investment? – In our workshop, we shall discuss these and further questions related to the sense, meaning and use of time in academic settings.
