Welcome at the homepage of the CAWE project.
The complexity of BI-systems as heterogenous IT-systems steadily grows as a result of an increasingly dynamic business environment.
Software documentations allow to keep an detailed overview of the functionality of BI-systems even with growing system complexity. The development process of high quality documentations is ressource comsuming and therefore usally performed in the design and development phase - ignoring continous changes and adaptions. By using the model-driven software development approach, the junior researchers of the Computer-Aided Warehouse Engineering (CAWE) project developed a prototype, that enables performing an automated generation of user-specific software documentations in the areaof ETL-processes.
The following video shows the CAWE Data Warehouse Documenter (DW Documenter) in action using Pentaho Data Integration (PDI) as an exyample. The further development towards the documentation of ETL-Processes in Microsoft SSIS 2005/2008 has already started.
The results will be presented at the CeBIT 2012 in Hannover (Halle 9, Gemeinschaftsstand "Forschung für die Zukunft", Stand A10)
