Das Lehrbuch Volkswirtschaftslehre 1 präsentiert eine leicht verständliche und moderne Einführung in die volkswirtschaftliche Theorie und Politik. Es werden die Grundlagen der Nationalökonomie erläutert, die vor allem für Studierende der Anfangssemester an Hochschulen und Wirtschaftsakademien von großer Bedeutung sind. Basierend auf einer Erklärung elementarer Begriffe und Prinzipien der Volkswirtschaftslehre befaßt sich der zweite und dritte Teil des Buches mit den großen Teilgebieten dieses Faches, nämlich der Mikro- und der Makroökonomie. Der gesamte Lehrstoff wird durch Graphiken und Zahlenbeispiele ergänzt und enthält zudem zahlreiche aktuelle Bezüge, um wichtige Zusammenhänge hervorzuheben. Dieses Übungsbuch ist als Ergänzung zu dem Lehrbuch "Volkswirtschaftslehre 1" konzipiert und soll dem Studierenden die Möglichkeit geben, den dort behandelten Lehrstoff zu vertiefen und anzuwenden. Es gliedert sich, dem Lehrbuch folgend, in die drei Teile "Grundlagen", "Mikroökonomik" und "Makroökonomik", zu denen jeweils eine Reihe von Multiple-Choice-Aufgaben gestellt sind. Die Lösungen zu allen drei Teilen sind am Ende des Buches gesammelt.

There is a mounting consensus that human behavior is changing the global climate and its consequence could be catastrophic. The main challenges the European Single Market is facing in the 21st century result from the enlargement to Central and Eastern Europe, the EMU, and the globalization of trade and investment that has aided the rise of competitive emerging markets. This state-of-the-art book provides fresh theoretical and empirical evidence on the challenges presented by integration and globalization for both developed and developing countries. The authors demonstrate how the European Single Market remains a work in progress with many critical issues still to be addressed. These include the rigidities in product and labor markets, the need for innovation and quality upgrading, and the rapid catch-up of new member countries. They go on to show how firms use the opportunities provided by integration and globalization to fragment their production processes internationally, which brings gains but also requires structural adjustment. The book also argues that global environmental coordination may be less detrimental to the growth prospects of developing countries than is commonly believed. The Association Agreement between Jordan and the EU entered into force in 2002. It is part of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, a process of economic and political integration involving the EU and countries in the MENA region. This books analyses the impacts on the Jordanian economy of the free-trade agreement with the EU, with emphasis on welfare and income distribution. The effects of trade liberalisation are assessed together with parallel and complementary economic reforms, aiming at countacting the fall in government revenue due to the reduction in the import duty rates. In order to capture the economic interactions and the intertemporal effects, the analyis is conducted by using a dynamic CGE model. The approach used in this work is the first one analysing income distribution in a CGE framework in which heterogeneous households are assumed to have different discount rates. The simulation results show that, although the free-trade arrangement with the EU affects positively aggregate welfare in Jordan, it also has different effects on Jordanian heterogenous households and it causes increasing income disparity. This work hopes therefore to provide both theoretical insights and useful policy implications.
