Technische Universität Chemnitz once more has achieved an all-time high in acquiring third-party funds within funding programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). According to the latest DAAD funding balance sheet, TU Chemnitz successfully applied for more than 1,3 million euros of external funds from the DAAD in 2013. In comparison to the previous peak reached the precedent year, this signifies an increase of about 130,000 euros, which the International Office stated as a striking success especially in consideration of the size of the university.

„The university is particularly active in acquiring DAAD funds within the project and program sector, which have reached an amount of 888,000 euros“, stated the Head of the International Office, Dr. Wolfgang Lambrecht. Already the share of the third-party funding acquired or administrated by the International Office in 2013 alone reached around 546,000 euros. „Thanks to these additional resources especially the exchange of students, PhD students and scientists can be further enhanced and already successful projects can be continued. From this increase each group of university members individually as well as the university as an institution benefit by the continuous strengthening of the integration of our university in the global Scientific Community” resumes Dr. Lambrecht. Additionally, this development provides an important contribution to the implementation of the defined targets in the university development plan of TU Chemnitz to constantly further enhance the whole sector of mobility as well as the international visibility of our university.

In order to assure the sustainability of this positive development, the International Office continues to offer a number of services for the benefit of all interested applicants at TU Chemnitz. Thus, on the homepage of the International Office is provided a lot of up-to-date information concerning this topic in a clearly arranged manner http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/international/index.php.en. So, for example, „Mobility Funding Calls for Proposals“ may be found by accessing the following link: http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/international/vernetzung/mobilitaetsfoerderung. „Even if the application, implementation, management and accounting of the DAAD projects basically belong to the applicant, the International Office offers advice and support in every project phase“, assures Dr. Lambrecht. Those services range from information with regard to adequate funding programs via the formal review of project applications and obtaining necessary signatures of the university management up to introduction of administrators at the professorships in the financial management and accounting after successful application. „In the case of an intended application within a funding program of the DAAD, the applicants are cordially invited to contact the International Office as early as possible“, recommends the Head of the International Office.
