University Appoints New Professors

Two new professors were appointed by the University President on July 1, 2018

The President of Chemnitz University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, appointed a new professor in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and a new professor in the Faculty of Mathematics on July 1, 2018.

Biography: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Golder

On July 1, 2018, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Golder was designated the Head of the Professorship of Conveying Engineering and Materials Handling in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University. Previously, he was the Head of the Professorship for Safe Mechatronic Systems in Intralogistics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

After completing his studies in the field of mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe, Golder worked as a development engineer and completed his doctorate in 2004 at the Universität Karlsruhe. Afterwards, between 2006 and 2016, he worked as a project manager in the Department of Research and Development and later was appointed Director of the department at STAHL CraneSystems GmbH located in Künzelsau. In 2015, he was appointed Head of the Professorship for Safe Mechatronic Systems in Intralogistics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Biography: Prof. Dr. Jan-Frederik Pietschmann

Prof. Dr. Jan-Frederik Pietschmann was appointed Head of the Professorship of Inverse Problems in the Faculty of Mathematics at Chemnitz University on July 1, 2018. Prior to this appointment, he was a member of the academic staff at the University of Münster.

After completing his studies in mathematics and physics in Münster in 2008, he completed his doctorate at the University of Cambridge in 2011. From 2011 through 2017, he held academic positions at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, TU Darmstadt and the University of Münster. During the 2017/2018 winter semester, he worked as a visiting professor at Osnabrück University. In 2018, Pietschmann received the venia legendi for mathematics in Münster.
