Arrival and accommodation


Airports near Chemnitz

If you arrive at the airport Leipzig/Halle you have to take a train to Leipzig central station and take there the train to Chemnitz. This takes one to two hours. A direct Taxi ride costs around 100 Euro if you negotiate.
If you arrive at the airport Dresden you have to take a train to Dresden central station and take there the train to Chemnitz. This takes around two hours. A direct Taxi ride costs around 80 Euro if you negotiate.
The airport Berlin Schoenefeld is further away but served by more air companies. So you might have to change less often if you choose to fly to Berlin. To come to Chemnitz you have to take a local train to Berlin central station, from there an ICE to Leipzig and from there the train to Chemnitz. This takes around three hours.
Once a day there is a direct train Berlin Schoenefeld -- Chemnitz, leaving Berlin Schoenefeld at 18.00 h. Actually, at the moment there is a BUS replacing the train. This service is provided by the Vogtlandbahn.
All other mentioned train services are provided by the Deutsche Bahn.

How to come to the Mathematics Department

The Mathematics Department of the TU Chemnitz is located in the Reichenhainer Str. 39/41. There is a direct bus (line 51) from the central railway station to the Mathematics Department. If you take this bus from the central railway station, you should get off the bus at the stop 'TU Reichenhainer Str.' which is located in from of the building indicated as `B-Bau'. The stops of the bus line 51 are listed here.

Location of the lecture hall

The lectures of the summer school take place in the central lecture hall building called ''Neues Hörsaalgebäude'' on the first floor. The main lecture room is N 111 and the room for discussion is N 106.

Hotels

We have pre-booked several single and double bed hotel rooms at the Seaside Residenz Hotel Chemnitz. The hotel is ten minutes walking from the mathematics department and the workshop lecture hall. The rates are

Breakfast is included. The special rate for the single room does not include a TV. The Günnewig Hotel Chemnitzer Hof offers a special discount rate for guests of the TU Chemnitz as well. The number of rooms offered at this rate is limited. The Günnewig Hotel is located next to a stop of the bus line 51 which brings you in ten minutes to the mathematics department.

Note that on the weekend 15.--17.July there is aracing event in Chemnitz. Thus the hotel room prices on the weekend before the start of the summer school are quite high, or simply unavailable.
