‘Extremism and Democracy’

Since 2001, Uwe Backes, professor of political science, and Eckhard Jesse, professor of political science, have been publishing a book series on ‘Extremism and Democracy’ (Nomos Verlag). The book series provides a forum for studies with historical and contemporary approaches, and reflects the extraordinary diversity of the field of political extremism: right-wing political extremism (nationalism, racism, fascism, National Socialism), left-wing political extremism (anarchism, communism), and political-religious fundamentalism (Christian, Muslim). The studies focus on common interests of structure, interactions, and interdependencies.
