Established in October 2004, the Junior Professorship focuses on the Iberian Peninsula from a cultural perspective. Research and teaching deal with the analysis of cultural representation. All kinds of cultural artefacts, e.g. texts, movies, photographies, works of art, speeches etc. are considered adequate to visualise and helpful to understand cultural practices. Theories and methods from Linguistics, Literary Studies, Cultural Studies as well as Ethnology and History are applied to analyse and interpret such artefacts. Both historical and contemporary phenomena are examined.
