Geography is much more than just physical geography. Cultural Studies or Regional Geography are only parts of the subject "Geography". In modern Geography, Regional Geography is no longer in the subject's centre but is the basis for dealing with space-related questions of all kind.
The Department is thematically subdivided into three main fields:
Social and economic geography is offered as a subsidiary subject within the course of study "Magister Artium", as a optional compulsary subject within the course of study "Degree Sociology" or as part of "European Studies". Practical orientation, methods of empirical social research and their application as well as regional geographical examinations are of great importance during the time of study.
