My focus of research within the project will be to compare markers of complexity from a typological perspective. Languages use different lexico-syntactic means to create semantic depth –either by formal and obligatory marking or by foregrounding of items, among other phenomena. It will be therefore revealing to look on the one hand at German and English in comparison and on the other hand at their strategies of embedding. Both will be discussed with native speakers from a slavic language background for added contrast.
