MuKu Chemnitz is the football team of the foreign students from
Techinsche Universität Chemnitz.
It is affiliated with the
Club of the Cultures from the
University, on whose
site we also announce the activities of the team.
Students of many nationalities have played during the time for our team,
whose official colours are yellow and blue. Our activity consists of in participating (and, sometimes, winning)
to football tournaments and in weekely trainings. Thanks to
Universitätssportzentrum
we can train every week-end for two hours in the Sports Hall from Thüringer Weg. For the tournaments outside
Chemnitz, our participation and travel are sponsored by
Studentenwerk.
The origins of the team date since 1996. We were sponsored by Studentenwerk with a set of yellow-blue equipment, admired even today by opponents, fans or simple viewers. The old webpage contains some info regarding the early stages of the team. The first Captain was Christophe Merewa from Cameroon. Then, till October 2000 Jacques Nomssi, also from Cameroon, ruled the team. He used to play as goal-keeper. Then Sung Gook Park, a very good defender from South Korea, took over the lead for an year. After his departure to Switzerland, in the autumn of 2001, Radu Ioan Boţ, midfield from Romania, has been elected manager of the team. And he is still in charge. We have a two-hours training-time weekely in the Sports Hall of TU Chemnitz. When the weather allows we play outside, on the football ground nearby. For the complete training-schedule feel free to visit our Training page. During the time MuKu has been fifteen times on the podiums of various competitions so far. A glass case containing the trophies we have won stands in the lobby of the Club of the Cultures from Thüringer Weg 3. Today's line-up includes alongside the captain Radu Ioan Boţ, who organises the team in the middle-field, some really good players. Carlos Landauro-Saenz from Peru has been enrolled together with Radu, in 1999. The whole defence bases on him, but sometimes he proves to have real top-scorer qualities. Cameliu Himcinschi from Romania and Alexander Rogozhin from Russia are our offensive players. One of them is always in good shape, covering the other's temporary lack of luck. The youngest member of the team is the goal-keeper Sorin Grad, who also comes from Romania. His lack of experience and, later, constancy did cost our team a title and another possible trophy, but sometimes he proves to deserve the #1 MuKu T-shirt (and the corresponding gloves). He wants to play as defender, ..., maybe later. We mention here also Tiberius Stelli, a Romanian/German defender with a major contribution to the team's recent successes, who has recently left for England. We are continuously looking for young and talented football players willing to play for our team. They have to study at TU Chemnitz, whether they are foreigners or Germans is not so important. In order to be selected in the team, you have to attend regularly our trainings and to prove good skills as football player. |
