After 17 years, the German Society of Human Factors and Ergonomics (GfA – Gesellschaft für Arbeitswissenschaften e.V.) again hosted the Annual Spring Congress in Chemnitz. 373 visitors from science and practice came to attend the most important national event in the scientific field, which offered a multifarious program from March 23rd to March 25th. The scientific part of the congress, 9 workshops, 206 speeches in 7 parallel sessions and 40 poster presentations, took place at the new auditorium building, where 10 exhibiting companies presented themselves in the foyer. The event, which was dedicated to the motto “Human, Technology, organization – Networking in the processes of product development and product manufacturing” examined and discussed not only on the typical ergonomic topics (evaluation methods, work design, human-machine-interaction), but also on highly topical megatrends such as demographic change, intercultural effects and work mobility. As final highlight, the VW management member Hubert Waltl gave a lecture on ergonomics and work organization. The supporting program started with the eve meeting in the future campus at the university building Straße der Nationen. The tradition of Chemnitz as an industrial city and the development of the university provided topics for discussions with new and familiar conversational partners. For the main evening event on Thursday, the Professorship of Human Factors and Ergonomics invited the congress participants to the “Alters Pumwerk” on the Zschopauer Straße where the atmosphere, several highlights as the Best Paper- and Best Poster Award, and the many invited guests stirred the interest in ergonomics. |
