Chemnitz University of Technology is actively integrating into the global knowledge community. For this reason it co-operates with more than 100 partner institutions world-wide by the intensive exchange of students and scientists as well as by promoting joint research projects. Furthermore Chemnitz University of Technology is strongly engaged in international networking organizations like the "Academic Consortium 21" which aims to develop a university concept fitting to rapidly changing economic and societal needs as well as to dynamic technological progress in the age of the 21st century.

Additionally, Chemnitz University of Technology is very active in the area of international marketing as an attractive and promising location of studies and science. For this reason the university is present on selected international recruiting and networking fairs world-wide. Despite of its global orientation Chemnitz University of Technology not neglects to also integrate into the neighboring regions. An expression of that objective is the organisation of so-called "taster weeks" for pupils of the neighboring countries Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary within the program "guidance-counselling initiative German partner schools abroad (BIDS)".
