Implementing MPI on the Earth Simulator

Abstract:

After a short overview of the Earth Simulator, currently the world's most powerful supercomputer consisting of 5120 high-performance vector-processors, we discuss particular challenges in implementing MPI on this machine. We outline key features of MPI/ES, the full MPI-2 implementation for the Earth Simulator developed by NEC's C&C Research Laboratories, present some performance figures, and discuss possible future developments. The talk will be given in German (or, if preferred by the audience, in English)
