In Economic and Organizational Psychology, we describe, explain, predict, and change work processes and their organization (in different contexts like, for example, administrative and business units). It is important to connect the needs of individuals with the demands of the organization, to analyze interactions between economic and psychological processes, and to look for possibilities of improving work performance and satisfaction.

Classic topics in Economic Psychology are survey design, behavioral finance, and consumer behavior. In Organizational Psychology, however, we focus first on the organization itself, for example, we investigate the influence of organizational structure on performance and motivation, and second on the members of an organization, for example on how they are selected and trained.

In organizational psychology, we connect basic and applied research, and the interests of the university with public interests, because we develop measures, evaluate and change processes, and do consulting.

Economic and Organizational Psychology are tested as part of the Diploma and Bachelor program in Psychology and as part of several other related disciplines.

The goals of our research group align with the focus on natural sciences and technology of the Chemnitz University of Technology. Thus, in our research we mainly focus on changes of and in organizations, goal commitment, and on responsible behavior and social influence in organizations (organizational silence and voice).
