Eye Trackers

Overview

In our lab, several eye trackers of various kind are available. In particular, we use a SMI IVIEW X RED P/T System, a SMI IVIEW X HED, and a faceLAB 4 by seeingmachines. Therefore, we are able to cover a broad range of research applications with our equipment. The eye trackers are used for questions of traffic psychology as well as experiments in cognitive problem solving, they can be installed in an instrumented vehicle or the driving simulator as well being just put on a desktop.

SMI IVIEW X RED P/T

  • Non-invasive, video-based eye tracking
  • Monocular, pupil/pupil-CR, dark-pupil tracking
  • Sampling rate 50 Hz (PAL)
  • Tracking resolution < 0.1° (typ.)
  • Gaze position accuracy < 0.5° - 1° (typ.)
  • Operating distance subject - camera 0.4 - 0.8 m
  • Head tracking range 40 x 40 cm at 80 cm distance

SMI IVIEW X HED

  • Non-invasive, video-based eye tracking
  • Monocular, pupil-CR, dark-pupil tracking
  • Sampling rate eye movements 50Hz
  • Tracking resolution < 0.1° (typ.)
  • Gaze position accuracy < 0.5° – 1° (typ.)

seeingmachines faceLAB 4

  • Non-invasive, video-based eye tracking
  • Input is obtained using a stereo camera pair
