Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

Electrical engineering, being the basis of modern information technologies, plays a key role in CUT s transition to the age of communication and information. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is equipped with the most up-to-date research facilities, and offers students state-of-the-art equipment for their studies. Industry has a demand for graduates who are highly proficient not only in engineering subjects, but also in business and languages, among other skills. Interdisciplinary programmes allow such combinations, thus giving students the best opportunities to gain highly competitive degree qualifications.

The latest CHE university ranking placed the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at CUT among the best in Germany, largely due to its modern facilities and excellent teaching conditions. The Department has a large number of national and international partners, in both industrial and educational areas, creating various opportunities for exchange programmes and placement. In 1998, CUT was chosen as host for the German Association of Electromechanical Departments (DFTE), honouring its outstanding work in teaching and research.

The highlight of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is the Centre for Microtechnologies (ZfM), a special research centre at CUT. The centre is active in the fields of advanced technologies for microelectronics, microsystems and silicon micromachining as well as nanotechnologies.

Micro and Nano Systems - English-language Masterīs program

The program provides world-class, future-oriented education in design, manufacturing, characterization and integration of miniaturized components into engineering systems. The interdisciplinary courses cover fundamental theoretical knowledge in physics and engineering but also application-oriented skills in developing innovative products, in business administration and management. Courses and practical training address current and prospective needs of industrial and academic research.
