Research:

Research work at the Institute of Personnel Management and Leadership Studies is conducted by the Research Center for Organisational Competence and Strategy. The Research Center focuses mainly at Knowledge as an organisational asset. Our current research projects are:

Learning from an within high performance systems: This project aims to identify characteristics  and similarities on so called High performance Systems, like teams of fire brigades, formula one racing teams, emergency medical service (EMS) or members of special police task forces. Performance related issues are analyzed such as: How high performance can be developed or if it possible to transfer identified performance patterns to other organisations? In this context special attention is taken on organisational learning processes as well as on feedback and reflection.

German-Japanese 'International Knowledge & Technology Executive MBA' (IKTEMBA): The objective of the international MBA project is the development and implementation of a German-Japanese 'International Knowledge & Technology Executive MBA' (IKTEMBA) with special emphasis on Knowledge and Technology Management. The project partners are the Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, and the Doshisha Business School Kyoto, Japan. METORA: METORA, a project in collaboration with BITKOM and Core Business Development GmbH, and funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, develops concepts and practices of Knowledge Management for small and media sized enterprises (SMEs). SMEs incorporate structures and processes that are completely different from large corporations. METORA accommodates the differences by developing appropriate software-suits, web-presences, and services. FOKUS at TU Chemnitz contributes with the K3 Knowledge Laboratory®, a web-database that is build on experiences from survey research among SMEs on one hand, and many different case studies among the manifold branches on the other. This database rests on a process-perspective of knowledge management and aims to represent such processes of KM implementation appropriate to the needs of SMEs.
